Furlow's Folly CollectionFurlow and I have similar taste, always valued each other’s opinions, and were very comfortable working on projects independently. It was a natural fit. Furlow was much more knowledgeable about English Furniture and valued finding local craftspeople to produce pieces in the right quality and scale. I had been trained as an apprentice under Dino Levy, an Italian importer, creating hand-painted finishes. This collection sets a focus on painted finishes, which is my passion. I can recall Mrs. Parish saying, ‘in every room, there should be at least one piece of painted furniture to lighten the mood and bring a sense of whimsy.’ – John Rosselli
Half a Century in the Making, the Furlow’s Folly collection
Inspiration for the Furlow’s Folly collection started with a magazine clipping of a table with palm carvings. Determined to give this piece a new life Furlow had the parts carved in the Philippines and John set to work on the finishing in his Harlem studio, resulting in the NEW Americus Palm Table. Similar to many items added to the collection, they were pieces they saved over the years, traditional designs, you couldn’t find anymore.
Included are the Savannah Center Table, Lumpkin Demilune, Nicola Hall Chair, Peacock Palm Mirror, James Jardinière, Folly Tea Table, and Cuthbert Pedestal, a culmination of ideas that are available through John Rosselli & Associates showrooms.
