Fermoie is thrilled to introduce two new fabric collections for Autumn 2024, Marlborough and Ruffle, expanding their distinguished family of hand-drawn designs crafted entirely in-house. Despite their distinct styles, both collections showcase the essential role of the designer’s creative judgment and artistic vision in determining how colors interact with the cloth’s warp and weft as light falls upon it. This results in a captivating layering of textures and a sense of depth, intrigue, and intimacy.

“These collections embody the creative journey we embark on with every new Fermoie design. It starts with a conversation where our team exchanges ideas, influences, and inspirations. As we progress into drawing, creating colors, and observing their effects on different basecloths, the design evolves and takes on a life of its own. It’s the sense of discovery, serendipity, and revelation that makes our work so fulfilling,” shares Tom Helme, co-founder of Fermoie.

The Marlborough collection draws inspiration from early damasks, offering a modern interpretation of large-scale woven English textiles. The design reflects the studio’s passion for intricate and reversible patterns with its delicate, intertwining floral and leaf motifs. Flowing gracefully across the fabric, it evokes the gentle beauty and elaborate forms of an English rose garden. Hand-drawn in-house, the design features layers of subtle texture for depth and visual interest. The 100% linen basecloth weave accentuates the design’s soft, painterly lines, providing a sense of scale and impact suitable for any setting. Marlborough is available in 15 carefully selected colors, named after the historic market town in Wiltshire, England, where Fermoie was founded in 2010.
