Patrick Mele Collection“
What is important to note in these colorways – is that I keep to a strict tonal story for each paper, along with the use of white. I believe that multiple hues and gradients paired together with white – feels fresh and optimistic – contemporary and timeless. May these papers bring great delight and joy to your home!” – Patrick Mele
Adelphi Paper Hangings asked designer Patrick Mele to create custom colorways for five historical wallpapers.
“The color palette and overall mood for my capsule collection with Adelphi Paper Hangings – was inspired by my fantasy of a high afternoon tea party set within a blooming spring garden – here’s where my head journeyed to!
After the doldrums of a long gray, muddy New England winter I was thirsty for a pretty pastel hues of new buds – bursts of acid green that turn to rich leafy foliage, crystal blue skies set against crisp white picket fences enveloped in romantic tendrils of climbing roses that burst with pink and apricot blossoms.
Envision a few friends gathering on that first warm Sunday afternoon, the smell of the fresh cut grass, birdsong in the air, hints of verbena, cherry and apple blossom envelops the group. Laid out for their delight, on a linen draped table, gently blowing in the wind – of course, is a mosaic of confectionary treats bedazzled in frosted marzipan, rich dark chocolate is covered in whipped creamy clouds – a pot of delicious lavender tea sits beside crystal coups bursting with pink bubbles that quench the parched. All are enraptured by these delights of Spring and excited by the promise of a long hot, colorful summer days to come!
