How did you get your start in the industry:
I have always loved design. On my first trip to India almost 25 years ago, I realized I wanted to work with textiles. I spent several years traveling there, working with workshops and craftsmen and learning as much as possible before launching my own collection in California.
Describe your work in 5 words or less:
Colorful, Romantic, Timeless
What Inspires you?:
Beauty, mostly found through travel and nature, as well as visiting textile archives and museums.
Describe your studio/work space:
I don’t have a studio, but I guess you could say my bedroom is my workroom. My apartment is filled with books, many on design. I have pieces of antique textiles of all sizes from all over the world in stacks next to piles of strike-offs in my bedroom. It looks chaotic!

What’s makes your brand stand out from the rest:
When I’m trying to decide what to include in my collection, I always ask myself, “Could I live amongst this print?” I like to think my textiles are not only pretty but they also easily integrate with most styles and periods. However, there are many talented designers with beautiful textiles that stand out I would be happy to live with.
Any new techniques, mediums, colors, aesthetics you are experimenting with?
At the moment I’m about to launch a collection of performance fabrics. It has been an interesting process as it’s the first time I have not physically traveled during the design and production period. I have spent the past two years in Dallas. This collection has the usual exotic touches I love, but for the first time, I have also been inspired by destinations closer to home, like Florida and the Caribbean.
